Today's report: Wednesday Feb 1st - DAY 3
(preliminary results)...
Site: Vallejuelo
Conditions: Conditions changed radically from the last two days. By 9:30 in the morning, there where already cumulus forming all along the Sierra de Neyba and above launch, and a thick layers of altocumulus brought the world overdevelopment to our minds. But instability was not extreme and it provided almost 7 hours of good thermic conditions.
Outstanding flights: Lots of good XC flights today! Almost 90 percent of pilots did much better than in day one and two, and no wonder as conditions where much better. There were valley crossings under convergence by the Green twins, 38 and 45 km FAI triangle by Dale Covington and Ermanno Pedroncelli, while Giuseppe Sigismondi, Marco Lorenzon and Mike Miller did big flights over turnpoints averaging 60 km+ among the three of them. But it was Aljaz Valic, again, that set the new high score of the comp with an 84 km out and return flight which is also the new Dominican out and return record!
Day winner: Aljaz Valic.
Category 1 day winner: Fabrizio Cavadini on his Ozone Mojo with 18.2 points.
Category 2 day winner: Adrian Leppard from the UK with his airwave Sport, scoring 60.9 points.
Category 3 day winner: UK's Mike Miller on his Aerodyne Shaolin, with 95 points.
Category 4 day winner: Italy's Marco Lorenzon on his Advance Omega 6., scoring 86.7 points.
