Airport

Which airport should I fly to?

The closest airport to San Juan de la Maguana is Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo. The airport code is SDQ. This airport is 3.5 hours away from San Juan.

What about the other airports?

All other airports are quite far away from San Juan. Punta Cana is a 6 hours drive and so is Puerto Plata. The airport in Santiago is 4.5 hours away from San Juan.

Transfer: Airport - Comp / Comp - Airport

Is the transfer from / to the airport included in the registration fee?

The transfer is not included in the registration fee.

How do I get from the airport to San Juan?

If you arrive at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo (SDQ) you need to:

1st- Take a taxi and go the bus stop of a transport company called 'Caribe Tours' in Santo Domingo. That will cost you USD 20 - 25 and it's a 40 minutes drive. Every taxi driver knows where Caribe Tours is, but just in case the address is: Av 27 de Febrero esq. Leopoldo Navarro, Santo Domingo - telephone 809 221 4422.

2nd- Take a bus to San Juan de la Maguana. That will cost you USD 7 - 10 and it's a 3.5 hours drive. Caribe Tours' buses leave Santo Domingo at 6:30, 10:15, 14:00 and 17:30.

3rd- Once in San Juan, you can walk to the hotel where the competition is based. The name of the hotel is Hotel D' Angel.

If you arrive anywhere else you will have to take a bus to Santo Domingo and then do steps 1 to 3.

To go back to Santo Domingo after the comp the procedure is quite similar and departure times of the buses from San Juan to Santo Domingo are the same as from Santo Domingo to San Juan.

Dates

When should I arrive in the Dominican Republic?

The comp starts first time in the morning of Monday 30th January. Ideally, you should be at San Juan the night before, that is on Sunday 29th. The accommodation for the night of the 29th is included in the registration fee. So you should arrive at the airport in Santo Domingo at 15:30 at the latest on Sunday 29th January, so that you have enough time to catch the 17:30 bus to San Juan.

When should I leave?

The comp ends on Sunday 5th February, late in the afternoon after a great party! We have included the accommodation for that night in the registration fee. So, ideally, you should leave San Juan on Monday 6th February.
